The initiation ceremony marked the beginning of a new academic journey for the freshers at IES College of Arts and Science . The event was organized to welcome the new students and introduce them to the college's culture, traditions and values.
The program started with a prayer by Ms. Sanjana C. S.
Principal of the college, Dr. Joshi C. O., welcomed the management representatives, teachers and staff along with new students and their parents, emphasizing the importance of this milestone in their academic journey.
Quotes from holy books were recited by students.
Our chief guest, Mr. P. K. Mohammed (Senior Vice president) delivered an inspiring talk on perseverance, hardwork and dedication in achieving success. Mr. Abdul Rasheed (General Secretary) inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp and delivering a meaningful inaugural speech.
Felicitation was provided by Academic Coordinator, Mr. Mohammed Ali.
Symbolizing the dissemination of knowledge, students received lighted candles from the chief guests. A token of gratitude was also provided to the parents for showing the love and respect towards them. Finally, the event was wound up through Vote of thanks by Mrs. Soumya S. Nair (Deeksha Convener).
The initiation ceremony was a grand success, setting the tone for a promising academic year ahead. The freshers were warmly welcomed, and the college community came together to make the event memorable.
The UN General Assembly, through a resolution on 7 th December 1987, took a decision to observe 26 th June as world anti-drug day every year, to strengthen action and co-operation in achieving a world, free of drug abuse. This year’s world drug day theme is ‘the evidence is clear: invest in prevention’. The college observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking on 26th of June by conducting poster making competition for the students. More than ten students participated in the contest and the winners were recognised with cash award. The idea was to sensitise the students regarding the ill effects of drugs in line with the very purpose of anti-drug day observation.
Valiyaperunnal celebration in connection with Bakrid 2024 was held on 19th June 24 in the college, with diverse entertainment programmes including qawwali and vattappattu performance by the students apart from mappalappatu competition. On the same day, National Reading Day was also observed by conducting an essay writing competition on, 'vayanasheelavum puthuthalamurayum'. Cash prizes were distributed to the winners of the contests at the valedictory function. The Principal of the college, talked on the essence of festival of sacrifice and importance of observing the reading day. He also appreciated the staff and the students for their sincere involvement, to make the day, both joyful and meaningful.
IES college of arts and science observed world environment day on 5th of June 2024. Management representatives, Shri. Mohammed Rafeek (vice president) and Shri. Ummer N. K., senior member of the board, along with the student union chairman, planted the mango sapling in the presence of whole student and staff community of the college. Competitions were held in line with the theme of WED of the year. Winners (first three positions) of the short video making, spot photography and drawing contests were honoured with cash prizes. Principal, Dr. Joshi C. O., congratulated the victorious students and appreciated the sincere contribution of students and staff for making the event, memorable.
The parents meeting of second semester students was held on 17 th May 2024. A good number of parents attended the meeting. It was an opportunity for them to know about some important facts with regard to their children's education. They were able to evaluate the strength and weaknesses of their wards.
Dr. Joshi C.O., Principal of the college, elaborated on how to score high marks in the internal assessment. He spoke on introduction and benefits of add-on programmes and value-added certificate courses. The principal requested the whole-hearted support of parents for the maintenance of discipline in the campus. Parents expressed their opinions as well as suggestions. The meeting was successful in making a very positive interaction among parents, teachers and the principal.
Mrs. Merina Mathew, Vice principal welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Salma Thasneem extended the vote of thanks.
Our College Union Inauguration and Christmas programme were held on 22nd December, Friday.Sri. Xavier Chittilappilly, MLA (Vadakkanchery Constituency) was the chief guest of the programme. Sri.P.K. Muhammed presided over the function. Dr.V.K. Gopi, Our Principal, welcomed all the guests and the audience. Then there was the oath taking ceremony of the union members. The college union chairman, Muhammed Saad, addressed the audience. Christmas cake was cut and distributed. The Chief guest, Sri. Xavier Chittilappilly emphasized on the importance of the functioning of Govt. schools as well as self-financing institutions. Muhammed Sir stressed on English language and its use both on academic and conversational levels. Truely the programme was a successful and memorable one.
